The NCad has set a society without animal experiments as the ultimate goal. But what exactly do we mean by this, and why is it important to articulate this goal explicitly?
The concept of a society without animal experiments refers to a future in which the use of animals for research and education has become unnecessary. By defining this end goal, we create the conditions to stay on course, make deliberate choices, and encourage collaboration. Especially in a challenging and contentious area such as animal testing, it is important to articulate where we want to go, even if we do not yet know exactly how, or whether it will be fully achievable.
The NCad explains this end goal in more detail in a note and an animation. With this, the NCad aims not only to provide direction but also to invite dialogue. Because only by working together across science, policy, industry and society can we move closer, step by step, to a society without animal experiments.
