We believe it is essential that online information is understandable and accessible for everyone. Therefore, we are committed to providing online information and services that are user-friendly, accessible and easy-to-find.

What is an accessible website?

Digital accessibility

Digital accessibility means that digital information and services are as accessible and easy to use for people with disabilities as for those without disabilities. One in five people in the Netherlands has a disability. The Digital Accessibility Act (Besluit digitale toegankelijkheid overheid) stipulates that government sites must meet accessibility requirements and account for them in an accessibility statement. More information on digital accessibility can be found on the website Digitoegankelijk.nl (in Dutch).

Our approach

We ensure accessibility through the following measures within our processes:

  • Accessibility is part of all steps in our design, build, and editorial process for websites and apps.
  • Independent experts regularly test (parts of) the websites and apps for accessibility. They examine functional-technical and editorial components. We solve any problems found.
  • Our staff keep their accessibility knowledge current and apply it where necessary.
