Interim Report: Learning from COVID-19

At the end of 2020 the Minister of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality asked advice from NCad about the effects of COVID-19 on the transition towards animal-free research and innovation.

Our first investigation of the field and methodology of research and innovation used to produce a vaccine quickly, showed that most methods used animal models. A question mark remains as to whether animal free methods will be able to shorten and improve the preclinical phase.

The final advice will appear at the end of 2021.
