European Union: Framework for genetically altered animals

This guidance document was published by the European Union for Member States subject to Directive 2010/63/EU.

The guidance document was developed to adress the rapid technological development over the last decade, apparent difficulties in achieving uniform understanding on when and what authorisation is required, how to report animals used to create and maintain genetically altered lines and the welfare assessment for these animals. The framework for genetically altered animals is intended as guidance to assist the Member States.
