“It is my responsibility as director of the 3R Centre Utrecht to promote the development and to apply the 3Rs: Replacement, Reduction, and Refinement. The best way to achieve this is through direct contact with those involved. Therefore, we work closely with researchers to map out the possibilities and limitations in the field of the 3Rs. NCad establishes the frameworks and set the ambitions and goals for the longer term, but in order for a transition to a world free of animal testing to succeed, it is essential that everyone is on board – including the researchers who use animals in their studies. I aim to contribute to a realistic yet progressive agenda for the future, with a focus on animal welfare.”
