On October 10th we will host an online event about the evaluation of our Transition Policy Advice 1.0: ‘Transition to non-animal research’. This advisory report, published in 2016, addresses options for phasing out animal testing and promoting animal-free innovations. In our recent evaluation, we analyzed the progress on the goals and ambitions from this report and published our findings in our advisory report: Evaluation of the NCad advisory report: ‘Transition to non-animal research’.
Our evaluation revealed seven key themes affecting the transition, including the need for cooperation, international support, funding, and cultural and economic factors. We conclude that progress has been made in the transition but that drivers have not been sufficiently exploited, barriers have not been sufficiently removed and fundamental changes are needed in order to achieve the set goals.
Based on our findings and concepts, we want to start a broad discussion on the future of the transition to animal-free research. The feedback and insights from this discussion will be an important source of input for new NCad advisory report on the transition to a laboratory animal-free society, Transition Policy Advice 2.0.
We invite everyone directly or indirectly involved in the transition to a laboratory animal-free society to participate in this (free) webinar. So:
- Are you curious about the findings of our review and reflection?
- Do you want to share your views on where we are in the transition?
- Do you want to contribute to creating the Transition Policy Advice 2.0?
Then register here for our webinar ‘Evaluating the transition to animal-free research!’
(The language of the event will be English, due to the involvement of international stakeholders)
